Manchester Oyster Festival Arrives in the Northern Quarter

Manchester is set to welcome its first Oyster Festival, a one-day event celebrating the oyster in the heart of the Northern Quarter. Sponsored by Moët & Chandon, and Taking place at the Manchester Craft & Design Centre (previously Smithfield Fish market) the festival will offer an inventive addition to The North’s foodie and community culture.

Guests can look forward to:

• Oysters, oysters, oysters - 5,000 fresh oysters served in a variety of ways & flavours.

• Oyster Shucking Competition – chefs and enthusiasts will compete live for the title of fastest shucker in Manchester.

• Best Dressed Oyster – local restaurants will showcase imaginative oyster creations, judged for both presentation and taste.

• Independent Food Traders – curated small plates and snacks from well-loved local names.

• Speciality Bar – featuring local & natural wines, classic champagnes, and of course, lager & stouts on tap.

• Live Music & DJ Sets – adding atmosphere throughout the day.

• Limited-Edition Oyster Merchandise – designed  & printed in collaboration with local artists from Manchester Craft & Design centre.

The festival highlights Manchester’s reputation for independent food culture with oysters as the hero. Visitors can expect a lively and welcoming atmosphere, distinct from the formality usually associated with oyster dining.
